BOSTON, Mass. — Snowport, the Seaport’s yearly outdoor holiday village, welcomed its sixth season on Friday in Boston at 100 Seaport Boulevard and is scheduled to greet shoppers through Dec. 27.
More than 125 vendors filled the grounds at Seaport Common, including Clarke’s Cakes and Cookies, a Dorchester bakery bringing sweets and hot chocolate. Organizers also list more than 130 small shops with gifts, clothing, housewares and snacks, plus 17 places to eat or drink, from cocoa and hand-folded dumplings to winter cocktails at stands named Jingle, Dizzy Dreidel, Betty and Blizzard.
A heated tent is on site for anyone who needs to warm up. Musicians from Berklee are booked on Mondays, and other live sets are planned Tuesday through Thursday. Getting in off the sidewalk costs nothing. Shoppers who want to skip a weekend line can buy a Fast Pass for Saturday or Sunday.
The weekly timetable runs 3 to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Beginning Dec. 7, weekday doors open at 11 a.m. instead. The village stays dark on Thanksgiving and Christmas and shuts its gates by 6 in the evening on Dec. 24.
Friday’s launch came in the rain. The market is meant to run every day into late December aside from those two holidays. Later dates include an on-site tree lot from Nov. 20 to Dec. 24, a menorah lighting on Dec. 10, a holiday stroll on Dec. 12, and curling lanes that remain into late winter. Families came looking for gifts and a first taste of the holiday season.
