Notable events include free burgers at Big Grin in The Lineup food hall. Alongside these culinary delights, locals can join in on various dining offers, showcasing Boston’s vibrant food scene while also raising awareness for shark conservation.

Boston is gearing up for a day of deliciousness as it celebrates National Hamburger Day on May 28. Local restaurants will be offering a range of free burgers and special deals throughout the city, enticing burger lovers of all ages to indulge in mouth-watering offerings.

One of the standout events will take place at Big Grin, located in The Lineup food hall in Downtown Boston, where the first 100 guests will receive free burgers from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who arrive too late to snag a free burger will still have something to smile about, as they will receive a voucher for free fries. Big Grin’s burgers were recently rated as the top choice during a taste test, further heightening anticipation for this special event.

In addition to the burger festivities, Boston is also launching the Boston Public Art Triennial, which aims to elevate the city’s reputation for public art and enhance accessibility for all residents and visitors. This year, the Triennial will feature a striking structure resembling a “Coraline-looking” house at the Boston Public Library. A total of 20 new public art pieces will be commissioned and installed across the city, with 16 of them available for free viewing until October 31. Four installations will find their homes in local museums, including the Boston Nature Center and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

The Triennial will include a wide array of events throughout the summer and fall, such as workshops, artist talks, and performances. The theme for this year is “The Exchange,” focusing on how artists draw inspiration from the work of various researchers and experts. A significant installation addressing addiction—based on insights from addiction and trauma researchers—will be showcased by the artist Swoon, ensuring the Triennial resonates with pressing contemporary issues.

As the city embraces the festive spirit of National Hamburger Day, various local restaurants are rolling out enticing burger deals. Notably:

  • Bad Daddy’s is offering a Bacon Cheeseburger on Steroids for $10.
  • BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse features the Canyon Burger and Tumbleweed Potato Chips for $11.99.
  • Buffalo Wild Wings is giving half off any burger with takeout or delivery using the code GOBURGER.
  • Burger King has a deal for rewards members to get a free hamburger with a $1 purchase.
  • Dairy Queen presents a buy one Signature Stackburger, get a second for $0.99 offer.
  • Mooyah will have a buy one get one free burger special in-store.
  • Wayback Burgers is offering a Classic Burger for just $5 on May 28.

Additional participating restaurants, such as Davio’s, Matria Boston & Bar Fellini, and Sugar Factory Boston, are each providing unique burger specials for the holiday, showcasing Boston’s vibrant culinary scene.

In tandem with these celebrations, renowned endurance swimmer Lewis Pugh is making waves not just for his athleticism but also for shark conservation awareness. Pugh completed a remarkable 60-mile swim around Martha’s Vineyard in 12 days, aimed at changing public perceptions of sharks, a mission linked to the 50th anniversary of the iconic movie “Jaws.”

For fresh produce enthusiasts, the city’s farmers markets have also returned for the season. The Central Square, Davis Square, and Copley Square farmers markets offer visitors the chance to purchase fresh local goods. The Copley Square market will resume its original schedule on Tuesdays and Fridays following recent renovations, ensuring that residents have access to quality food offerings.

This blend of tasty hamburger deals, exciting arts events, and awareness campaigns illustrate the dynamic spirit of Boston as residents and visitors gear up to celebrate National Hamburger Day.
