Boston – The Fourth of July holiday this year will be celebrated with a week-long series of free events and performances throughout the city of Boston, culminating in the vibrant Boston Pops July 4th Spectacular. The holiday falls on Friday, July 4, 2025, and will feature an array of activities designed for residents and visitors alike, running from June 30 to July 6.

On July 1, Boston-based saxophonist and singer Pat Loomis will perform a jazz set at the South End Library Park, located at 685 Tremont St., starting at 6:30 p.m. This concert is part of programming at the Boston Public Library’s South End branch, which is currently closed but will host community events during its renovations.

Dog owners looking for social engagement can participate in Yappier Hour every Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the outdoor patio of the Liberty Hotel. This casual gathering provides dog lovers with a chance to meet and connect while enjoying refreshments.

For television enthusiasts, Tiki Rock will present a free group screening of an upcoming episode of “Love Island” on July 3 at 9 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in themed outfits, adding a festive spirit to the viewing party.

Club Café in Back Bay will feature its monthly free cabaret night on July 4, with local singer KT Sullivan performing at 6 p.m. The show will highlight songs that pay homage to famous destinations and will be followed by a screening of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars,” creating an engaging night of entertainment.

Families are invited to the “Party Animals” puppet show at Emerson College’s UnCommon Stage on July 5 at noon. Suitable for children ages 4 to 9, this production will also welcome audiences of all ages to enjoy the whimsical storytelling offered by Brookline’s Puppet Showplace Theater.

As part of the holiday programming, the Shambhala Meditation Center will offer free meditation workshops on July 6 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. These sessions will focus on helping participants maintain their meditation practice, providing a relaxed environment in which to unwind after the holiday festivities.

In addition, Quincy’s Maritime Festival will celebrate the city’s 400th anniversary on July 4 from 2 to 9 p.m. along Marina Bay’s scenic boardwalk. This festival will include live music, a balloon magic show, and a Revolutionary War reenactment that highlights the city’s rich history.

Braintree’s Fourth of July celebration, known as Braintree Day, will kick off with a parade starting at 11:45 a.m. on June 28, featuring a variety of performances leading up to a grand fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

The Boston Pops July 4th Spectacular will commence at 8 p.m. on July 4 at the Hatch Memorial Shell. Attendees can expect special guest performances and a traditionally spectacular fireworks display scheduled from 10:30 to 11 p.m.

In conjunction with these events, the MBTA will provide a $10 4th of July Holiday Ticket for unlimited travel across the transit network on July 4, facilitating easy access to celebration sites throughout the city.

Various towns in Massachusetts will also host their own fireworks displays throughout the holiday weekend, with more than 90 shows scheduled state-wide. Duxbury’s July 4th Parade will take place on June 28, starting at 2 p.m. with a theme focused on “Duxbury Traditions.” Additionally, Hingham will host its Independence Day Parade on July 4 at 10 a.m. under the theme “Building Brighter Futures,” while Plymouth will conduct its parade at 9 a.m. on July 4, with fireworks set for 9 p.m. at Pilgrim Memorial State Park.

This week of festivities promises to offer Boston and surrounding communities a rich experience filled with music, entertainment, and celebration as they come together to honor Independence Day.
