Golf enthusiasts in Longview were in for a treat on July 21, 2025, as the Ark-La-Tex Junior Golf Tour hosted an exciting adult/youth tournament at the picturesque Wood Hollow Golf Course. As the summer golfing season began to wrap up, this event provided the perfect opportunity for families to come together and showcase their golfing skills while making some wonderful memories.
A Fun Family Affair
The adult/youth format added a lively twist to the tournament, with family members competing alongside one another. As players took to the greens, there was a palpable sense of camaraderie in the air. Whether it was parents and their children making strategic plays together or siblings vying for glory, the day was full of smiles and cheers.
Who Took Home the Trophies?
When the last putt was made, winners emerged from each age division, with standout performances that were sure to be remembered. In the coed 7-9 division, the combo of Ryan and Mike Weaver from Hallsville clinched victory with a stellar score of 63. The boys 10-11 division saw Ryder and Riley Adkinson from Gilmer taking home honors with a score of 66.
In the boys 12-13 age group, Luke and Steve Maldonado impressed the crowd with an outstanding score of 60. Not to be outdone, those in the girls 14-15 category were led by Presley Murphy and Chase Fisher from Longview, who ended their round at 66. Right behind them were Noah Purcell and Garland Underwood, also from Longview, scoring 65 in the boys 14-15 division!
The competition continued with the girls 16-up division being won by Tatum’s own Taydem and Leven Barker, finishing with a score of 74. Lastly, in the boys 16-up category, New Boston’s Maddox and Jake Duenas wrapped up their day with an impressive score of 62, solidifying their spot at the top.
Runner-Up and Third Place Finishes
There were also notable performances from the runner-ups and third-place finishers. The coed 7-9 division saw James and Will Stewart from Longview scoring 72 to take second place. Meanwhile, the boys 10-11 division had Cameron and Christopher Thomas from Atlanta following close behind with a score of 75.
In the boys 12-13 division, the Hallsville duo of Kyle and Brad Weaver put in a strong performance, also scoring 60. In the girls 14-15, Kylee and JJ Fernandez from Hallsville claimed runner-up with 75. Henderson’s Bryce Smith and Ricky Morris achieved a score of 65 in the boys 14-15 division as well.
For those taking home third place honors, Jace Talley and Derek Tuel from Longview finished with a score of 74 in the coed 7-9 division, while the boys 10-11 had Harrison and Thomas Anderson from Kilgore scoring 86. The competition was fierce in every category!
