Revere – Leonard Lomax, a 33-year-old man from Boston, has been formally charged in connection with a brutal assault that occurred outside the Twist N’ Shake ice cream shop. The incident, which left the victim with severe injuries, took place early in the morning on May 4, around 3:30 a.m.

Lomax faces multiple charges including assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a brick), and malicious destruction of property exceeding $1200. Witness reports and surveillance footage revealed Lomax’s violent behavior, which culminated in the use of a brick as a weapon against another man.

The victim, a 35-year-old man identified as Jeffery Satterwhite, was reportedly observing Lomax and another individual vandalizing a vehicle outside the ice cream shop. When Satterwhite contacted emergency services, Lomax approached him with a brick, disregarding Satterwhite’s pleas to drop the weapon. As Satterwhite sought to escape, Lomax assaulted him, leading to a strikingly violent confrontation that left him with serious injuries, including facial fractures, orbital fractures, a skull fracture, and a brain bleed. He was subsequently treated at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Surveillance cameras played a critical role in the investigation. A State Police trooper from the Metro Gang Unit recognized Lomax in the footage after evaluating the conditions surrounding the assault. The other suspect involved, Satterwhite, was identified with the help of a License Plate Reader system linked to the surveillance video. He is expected to face charges in a subsequent arraignment.

During the investigation, the victim was able to identify both Lomax and Satterwhite when shown a photo array by the police. Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden underscored the gravity of the incident by describing it as a “vicious attack” and noted the serious nature of the victim’s injuries.

Adding to Lomax’s troubling profile, he has a lengthy criminal history stretching back 16 years, which includes ongoing legal proceedings related to conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act. Despite the severity of his charges, he was released on personal recognizance without a dangerousness hearing, as initially requested by the prosecution.

Lomax is required to appear in court again on July 23. As investigations continue, the case has raised concerns among local law enforcement regarding violent incidents and public safety.

This assault outside a community gathering spot like the Twist N’ Shake has sent shockwaves through the Revere area, reminding residents of the unpredictability of violence and the importance of safety in public places.
