The Federal Government has taken a harsh stance against sanctuary cities, threatening to withhold federal funding from those cities seen as “Death Traps.” Currently, Massachusetts has nine sanctuary cities, including Boston, which tend to limit collaboration between local law enforcement and federal immigration agents.
In a recent congressional testimony, Mayor Wu spoke passionately about Boston’s Trust Act, which is designed to maintain that the city does not inquire about immigration status when providing essential services. She highlighted how Boston holds all criminals accountable, regardless of their immigration status. Wu asserted that Boston is one of the safest major cities in the nation, largely due to strong community trust in the police and the city’s regulations on firearms. However, her testimony led to a heated discussion with Representative James Comer, revolving around a disturbing case involving a father accused of committing heinous acts against his daughter in a migrant shelter.
