Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has released ‘Dear Summer Vol. 3,’ an official mixtape featuring original songs and DJ mixes from 17 local musicians and 6 top DJs. This initiative celebrates Boston’s vibrant cultural identity and amplifies the talents of the city’s creative community. Music Curator Chimel “ReaL P” Idiokitas leads the project, emphasizing community representation and storytelling through music. The mixtape is now available on streaming platforms, reflecting the city’s commitment to supporting local talent and cultural initiatives.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, alongside the City of Boston’s Office of Tourism, Sports and Entertainment, announced the release of “Dear Summer Vol. 3” on June 17, 2025. This official summer mixtape serves as an annual celebration of Boston’s vibrant cultural identity by showcasing original songs and DJ mixes from various artists within the Greater Boston area.
The mixtape includes contributions from 17 local musicians and features six top DJs, representing a wide array of music genres, including Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, Soul, Alternative, and Afrobeats. The project seeks to amplify the talents of Boston’s creative community and promote a sense of community and cultural identity.
Chimel “ReaL P” Idiokitas is serving as the Music Curator and Executive Producer for this edition, while John Borders IV and Brittany Lee also fulfill the role of Executive Producers from the Mayor’s Office. The production team is strengthened by Marquis Neal, who acts as Lead Studio Engineer, and Berklee College of Music student Adalia, who contributed as a producer.
The mixtape highlights a diverse array of artists representing various neighborhoods and backgrounds within the city, creating a rich tapestry that reflects the current music scene in Boston. DJ contributions come from noted professionals including DJ Cha, Brat Attack, ProSwervez, and SuperSmashBroz.
