In the heartwarming city of Troy, a local runner is making headlines for achieving a lifelong dream. Evan Kline took part in the 129th Boston Marathon on April 21, surrounded by the loving cheers of his family. It was a day filled with excitement, sweat, and just a hint of nervous energy as Kline ran his way through the iconic race, a true milestone for not just him but his family as well.
After crossing the finish line in a respectable time of 3 hours, 25 minutes, and 9 seconds, Kline found himself placing 11,718th out of an impressive 28,516 runners. It’s no small feat considering the number of participants vying for glory in America’s oldest marathon. Kline managed to secure his spot in this prestigious race with a stellar performance at the Big Bear Marathon in California, where he ran a swift time of 2:51:46. It seems the hard work and dedication to his training certainly paid off!
Present to support Evan during this remarkable event were his loving wife, Lisa, and their two children, Henry (6) and Harper (4). Also in attendance were Kline’s parents, Mitch and Jane Kline, who traveled from Clarkston to cheer him on. With their encouragement, Evan pushed through the grueling hours of running, knowing he had the unwavering support of his family behind him. They even tracked his marathon progress online using the Boston Marathon app, bringing a modern twist to their cheering efforts!

The B’nai B’rith Golf League recently commenced its season on April 17, welcoming 24 golfers ready to tee off every Thursday this spring and summer. The league, now in its thrilling 13th year, is delighted to announce that seven new golfers have joined the ranks, making up nearly 30% of the roster.
In an effort to foster competitiveness while keeping families close, the league has structured its divisions thoughtfully. Defending champions, Gary Klinger and Howard Meyers, are gearing up to face off again, while new teams like brothers Ryan and Marc Weiss, along with Ethan Baker and Gabe Gordon, students from Michigan State University, are eager to make their mark. Golf coach Bill Johnson and Mark Fransen have also joined in on the fun.
As the season progresses, early insights show that the Weiss brothers are leading Division 1, while Lyle Schaefer and Ryan Stone currently reign supreme in Division 2. It’s off to a competitive and exciting start, with each week promising new developments!
