News Summary

A recent University of Massachusetts poll indicates strong dissatisfaction among Bay State residents with President Trump, highlighting a 64% disapproval rating. The survey reveals mixed feelings about specific policies, such as transgender rights, and a majority supports local officials challenging Trump’s actions. While the political landscape remains polarized, it’s clear Massachusetts residents are vocal about their discontent and ready to take action.

Massachusetts Residents Rally Against Trump

In a revealing new poll conducted by the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, it seems that a strong wave of discontent is washing over the Bay State, particularly towards President Donald Trump’s actions and policies. According to the results, a whopping 64% of Massachusetts residents are not happy with Trump’s performance during his second term in office.

Disapproval Ratings Speak Volumes

If you thought approval ratings were all about the numbers, think again! With only about 32% of respondents giving Trump a thumbs up, it’s clear that his administration isn’t winning the hearts of many in Massachusetts. The sentiments expressed in the poll were overwhelmingly negative, with residents choosing words like “evil,” “dangerous,” and “fascist” to describe the president. These results were gathered through 700 interviews conducted between February 14 and February 20 and come with a margin of error of +/- 4.8%.

Mixed Feelings on Specific Policies

43% of respondents supported the executive order that recognizes only two sexes, while an equal 43% were opposed. This kind of division reflects the heated national debate surrounding these issues.

Similarly contentious topics, such as the ban on federal funding for gender-affirming medical care for minors, are causing ripples, while there’s also a split opinion on transgender women and girls participating in female sports.

Challenge from State Officials

60% of Massachusetts residents support Campbell’s legal initiatives, even including 22% of those who previously voted for Trump. This indicates a notable shift in perception among some GOP supporters. 70% of respondents believe that Governor Maura Healey and the state legislature should actively challenge any of Trump’s policies that contradict state laws or the U.S. Constitution. However, Governor Healey’s approval rating has slipped to 52%, particularly affected by her handling of the housing crisis and issues surrounding migrants and refugees, which are receiving 56% and 52% disapproval ratings, respectively.

Political Landscape for 2026

Polarized Opinions on Campbell’s Lawsuits

90% of self-identified liberals support Campbell’s lawsuits while a significant 85% of conservatives oppose them. It seems that Trump continues to evoke a mix of feelings among Massachusetts residents, captured in a blend of descriptors ranging from “good” and “strong” to the more negative “corrupt” and “liar”.
