The Northfield golf team celebrates their triumph at the Century Invitational tournament.
In a thrilling competition at the Eastwood Golf Course, Northfield’s high school golf team emerged victorious at the Century Invitational Golf Tournament, finishing with a score of 291. Their victory was hard-earned against close rivals, including Century High School and Minnetonka, showcasing impressive skills and teamwork. Individual standout Elias Ekern led Northfield with a remarkable 67, making this tournament a memorable event for players and fans alike.
What an exciting day in Northfield as the local high school golf team emerged victorious at the Century Invitational Golf Tournament held at the lovely Eastwood Golf Course! Players and supporters came out in droves to cheer on their teams, adding a vibrant energy to the event.
With a stunning final score of 291, Northfield claimed the top spot, much to the delight of fans. It was a fabulous display of skill and teamwork that allowed them to shine brightly throughout the day. In a tight competition, Northfield managed to pull ahead of their closest competitors.
Century High School didn’t go down without a fight, securing second place with a score of 307. They showcased some impressive skills and put forth a strong effort, proving they are a force to be reckoned with on the golf course.
Just behind Century, Minnetonka made a splash, finishing in third with a score of 308, followed closely by Mayo, which finished in fourth place with a total score of 309. What a close race, indeed! Five strokes separated the top four teams, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.
Moving beyond the top three, Two Rivers managed to secure fifth place with a score of 311. Albert Lea followed closely in sixth with a score of 314, showcasing the competitive spirit that drove each team to perform at their very best.
In a surprising twist, both Lourdes and Byron found themselves locked in a tie for seventh place, each team finishing with a score of 320. A lot of talent and potential in both of those teams certainly made this a multi-faceted tournament.
Further down the list, Austin placed ninth with a score of 321, while New Richmond from Wisconsin rounded out the top ten with a score of 324. River Falls, also from Wisconsin, finished in eleventh place with a score of 329.
Lakeville North and Owatonna weren’t far behind either, each team scoring 330 and 331 respectively, ensuring that the stakes were high throughout the tournament. Faribault and John Marshall followed them, with scores of 342 and 346 respectively, finishing in fourteenth and fifteenth places. What a day for the sport!
Among the individual players, Elias Ekern from Northfield stole the spotlight with an impressive round, finishing with a score of 67. He certainly showcased his talent and contributed significantly to Northfield’s victory!
Tim Sexton from Mayo was not far behind, finishing second with a score of 72. The tense competition can be felt in the air, especially when the scores were as closely matched as they were in this tournament.
Ties were the name of the game for some, with both Isaac Ahn from Mayo and Isaac Anderson from Austin finishing in third place with scores of 73. It doesn’t get much closer than that!
Northfield’s Maxwell Munoz was also a standout, tying for fifth with Colin Olson from New Richmond, both scoring 74, which added excitement to the mix. A thrilling day for golf fans ended with Boston Collins from Century, along with Darren Steward and Miles Poole from Northfield, scoring 75, landing them in a tie for seventh place.
Many players still showcased their talents throughout the rest of the rankings. We saw a host of talents from various teams, proving that while Northfield may have taken home the championship trophy, everyone played their hearts out and left it all on the course.
This year’s Century Invitational will definitely be one for the books, and we can’t wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds. Until next time, happy golfing!
