Leonard Lomax, a 33-year-old Revere resident, faces multiple charges for a violent incident outside Twist N’ Shake ice cream shop. The attack, involving Lomax and a second assailant, left a 33-year-old victim with severe injuries, including fractures and a brain bleed. Lomax has been charged with assault and battery and is scheduled to appear in court again in July.
Revere, Massachusetts – Leonard Lomax, a 33-year-old local resident, faces multiple charges stemming from a violent incident that occurred early in the morning on May 4, outside Twist N’ Shake, an ice cream shop located at 82 Revere Beach Boulevard. The attack, which left a 33-year-old man suffering from severe injuries, included two alleged assailants, Lomax and 35-year-old Jeffrey Satterwhite.
Lomax has been charged with assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (specifically, a brick), and malicious destruction of property exceeding $1,200. Following his arrest, he was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court again on July 23.
The incident began at approximately 3:34 AM when Lomax and Satterwhite were captured on surveillance footage kicking a parked vehicle, causing considerable damage. In response, the victim made a 911 call to report the actions of the two men. Lomax allegedly approached the victim while wielding a brick, prompting the victim to retreat and request that Lomax drop the weapon.
While the victim was attempting to avoid confrontation, Satterwhite drove away briefly, only to return and attack the victim from behind with what is believed to be a rock. After the initial blows, the victim fell to the ground, at which point Satterwhite reportedly struck him three more times before Lomax struck the victim with the brick, resulting in extensive injuries.
The victim sustained significant injuries, including multiple orbital fractures, a skull fracture, and a brain bleed. Following the attack, law enforcement initiated an investigation led by a State Police trooper from the Metro Gang Unit. Surveillance footage from the incident played a crucial role in identifying Lomax as a suspect, while the License Plate Reader system was used to locate Satterwhite.
Both Lomax and Satterwhite were subsequently identified by the victim in a photo array, solidifying the evidence against them. The Suffolk District Attorney, Kevin Hayden, described the attack as a “vicious” act that resulted in serious bodily harm to the victim.
During a court hearing, Judge Kimberly Foster declined the prosecutor’s request to conduct a dangerousness hearing and did not revoke Lomax’s bail. His release on personal recognizance sets the stage for upcoming legal proceedings. Lomax’s prior criminal history dates back to 2009, raising concerns about the potential risks associated with his current charges.
Violence in public spaces has increasingly become a focal point for law enforcement in Massachusetts, prompting discussions on safety measures and community initiatives to combat such incidents. The attack outside Twist N’ Shake highlights the ongoing challenge of maintaining public safety, especially in areas known for nightlife and recreational activities.
The city of Revere has been working to enhance community awareness and support systems for victims of violence while encouraging prompt reporting of crimes. As the case against Lomax unfolds, local authorities remain vigilant in addressing the implications of violent crime within the community.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of violence and the impact it can have on individuals and families. The victim continues to recover from the serious injuries sustained during the attack, prompting ongoing support from local community members.
